These past few weeks have been busy ones for the AGCommons team. We have been very active in preparing for our outreach trips, which start in less than two weeks – our detailed schedule is below (and on the calendar at AGCommons.org).The AGCommons team will be conducting meetings and mini-workshops in six countries in sub-Suharan Africa in March and April to ensure that potential partners understand the AGCommons objectives and plans. We hope to discuss with them how they can collaborate with or benefit from the Program and identify the geospatial information needs of smallholder farmers and those serving them.
Our focus is on listening, learning and sharing information with those in direct contact with small holder farmers and in the best position to directly provide them with benefits. Active participation of women smallholder farmers is another essential focus of our outreach.
We are in the process of identifying potential partners and stakeholders and are scheduling meetings. If you are interested in learning more about AGCommons and attending a workshop, please fill in the information on the ‘Contact Us’ page at AGCommons.org (http://www.agcommons.org/?q=contact) or contact me directly at Jennifer.barnes@ch2m.com.
