“The time has come to put all of Kenya and the rest of Africa on the map”: Google’s efforts to provide reach geographic data started in 2009 when Google Maps was launched in Kenya making available through any web browser detailed maps of many Kenyan towns.
Google Maps was followed by Map Maker, which Google presented also at the Africa Agriculture GIS Week 2009: with Map Maker users across 45 African countries can edit and build map data.
Now with Google Maps Local Business Centre, in addition to search online Maps for towns, highways or roads, users can also find local business: any business anywhere can add their own business listing for free. Businesses can also improve their websites and help customers locate them by installing the Maps API.
